Alright, journalists, you can stop speculating over “always-online” rumors and how many random access memories this mythical Xbox will have – Microsoft has officially set the date to unveil its new system. On May 21st in Redmond, Washington, 10am a live event will stream the news to everyone. Should you get excited? It depends. While these rumors of a system that requires you to be online have been prevalent, one still wonders if Microsoft would be so bold to try that. I’m not ready to proclaim those rumors true just yet. Things are very fluid in the tech industry and enough backlash will change those components at the drop of a hat. We’ll find out more on May 21st. Stay tuned! Read more…
Howard Phillips was one of the most important at Nintendo, but after he left, he eventually wound up working for Microsoft during the launch of the original Xbox. Now he’s selling his Xbox launch package, featuring a translucent green Xbox with Bill Gate’s signature on the logo. Also included are two matching controllers, a “Ship-It” chip on commemorative plaque, a replica of the original Xbox prototype (the big “X” in the picture), and a variety of other launch items like a full set of Xbox trading cards. Will it succeed though? I wonder if the Xbox name is too entrenched in “gaming” but perhaps that’s an unfounded concern. Will this hook people? 2013 will be an exciting year! Read more…
I think one of the most creative uses I’ve seen of Halo is This Spartan Life which is a clever machinima driven talk show. For geeks these episodes are always pure gold as you have the ironic contrast between Charlie Rose intellectual chatting with a backdrop of a sci fi version of Apocalypse Now. The show has had some amazing guests to date but they need funding help to get it to the next level so they’re making use of kickstarter.com to raise funds from the fans. Most of us will never get to be big wig Hollywood producers, but this is a small way you can do that — but rest well knowing that you helped something of quality.

Tekken 6 will appear on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan, however Microsoft would rather you buy it on the Xbox 360 of course! This latest version of Tekken includes a “rage” system which kicks in when the energy on characters is low (I wish I had that in the real world). Read more…
