Skippy is the clever creation of NearFar Productions in California, in this video he tries to explain the entire plot of Star Wars in under one minute (while he may not have succeeded I had a fun time watching him try). What I love about good comedy is that it’s all about the timing and Skippy nails that — I also liked his explanation of Lord of the Rings: Read more…
These Star Wars Kokeshi dolls touched my heart as they perfectly combine the timelessness of Star Wars with the charm of Japanese craftsmanship. For those of you not in the know Kokeshi are traditional dolls from northern Japan — what makes them unique is that they’re made out of wood and always lack arms or legs, and they’re always hand painted. The artist behind these cute goodies is Muluc whose store on Etsy is called temple7e. Shown above is Princess Leia and below is Han Solo: Read more…

This is a vintage 1979 Star Wars themed public service announcement produced for the Department of Transportation. The funny thing to me about the Cantina scene is that for this dive bar filled with scan and villainy the music is inspired by Benny Goodman, which is rather upbeat: Read more…

You’ll need the Force to get these goodies off of Esty because there’s only one set left! Above are the Star Wars Storm Trooper cufflinks and below are the Shadow Storm Trooper Helmet set — but my favorite is the tie tack below that. Also Gr0glmann offers a ton of other nerdtastic cufflinks that are well worth checking out…Read more…

I wasn’t aware of this — but it seems that back 1989 at Tokyo Disneyland they had a Star Wars themed attraction called Mickey’s Space Fantasy. After some research I found out that the ride featured in this old advert is in fact Star Tours which was advertised as “The Ultimate Star Wars Adventure!” which was the direct result of Lucas working with Disney back in the 80s on several projects. But best of all, I found out that the ride is still running to this very day…
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away there were these cute little mice! I know this sounds like we’re kitbashing Star Wars with the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy but these adorable sci fi rodents are the precious creations of the House of Mouse and can be found on Etsy on their very own page. There are 14 mice in the entire collection so far and they run between $35 and $40, but bet of all if your favorite character is missing they’re open to doing custom orders. Shown above is Princess Leia mouse and below is Darth Vader mouse. Read more…
From a fanboy point of view one of the coolest exhibitors at Toy Fair 2009 was the Attakus Collection booth which was packed with highly detailed collectables that take your breath away. The Star Wars Probe Droid above first caught my eye due to the huge scale (and loving detail), but they also had a an amazing collection of smaller scale figures based on everything from Marvel Comics to AstroBoy: Read more…
At first I had my doubts — but the one thing that won me over to the up and coming Star Trek film is the trailer — to be blunt it kicks ass! So as a fanboy who’s been following the show forever when I read that there was a comic book attached to the film (Star Trek Countdown) I was psyched. But then I glanced at the cover and I was in shock: The illustration looks like a bad tracing from a photo featuring some of the worst Photoshop coloring work I’ve ever seen in my life. I realize the cover is trying to match the posters for the film, but couldn’t they have put more than just ten minutes worth of work into it?Read more…

There’s this part of George Lucas that I love who does this great work, and then there is the dark side of the source: You know what I’m talking about — it’s that greedy guy who for the sake of a buck will let bad idea slip through like the Ewoks or Jar Jar just to rake in a few marketing bucks. Well George the greedy is back and Star Wars: A Musical Journey is set to hit the stage in London on April 10th, 2009. Amongst the featured travesties will be a kick line of Stormtroopers and singing Wookiees ruining the work of John Williams.
This is a cool looking documentary on the upcoming MMORPG game Star Wars: The Old Republic which is being developed by BioWare. There’s still no release date on this title, but it looks like it will be worth the wait when it comes out.
These Little Star Wars Costumes come in three sizes: Newborn, Infant and Toddler! The costumes are 100% kid safe, in fact the Darth Vader outfit features a detachable velcro cape and a “helmet” headpiece made from fleece. Although I sort of have mixed feelings about indoctrinating such young padawans into the ways of the force without proper training.
How come there’s a William Shatner cameo in Fanboys but not in the upcoming Star Trek XI flick? And speaking of Shat did you know that he once saw a UFO (not!): Read more…

“We’ll be sent to the spice mines of Kessel or smashed into who-knows-what!” This R2-D2 until looks like the “who-knows-what” part of that description:

For eons now we’ve all seen the classic Hello Kitty Toaster, so you knew it was only a matter of time until some other clever marketing dept. would swipe the idea. But what I find funny is that the Kitty toaster creates an emblem by leaving the Kitty face untoasted while the Darth Vader embraces the dark side of the toast by burning an insignia of Lord Vader into the middle of your breakfast:
“If there’s something every Sith Lord knows how to do it’s make a balanced breakfast. While the Jedi have to live off of Jawa juice and fried nerfsteak, the Dark Lord of the Sith prefers to have a reminder of his fiery Mustafar defeat at his breakfast table. Every morning he burns that moment into a slice of bread with the Darth Vader Toaster. This black, ominous kitchen appliance easily leaves the mark of Vader’s helmet in every yummy piece of toast. Slather some Bantha butter on top, or make two pieces for an extra-Sithy BLT. Force power not required to operate toaster.”

As a child recall a cheaply made Millennium Falcon toy that was cute, but I would have traded that clunker for this ship in a second. Now granted you’ll blow about $230, but this Millennium Falcon includes everything from secret smuggling compartments to an illuminated dejarik table with holo monsters:
“Really, this toy has it all. Loads of movie accurate sounds and lights (the engine start up will even randomly “fail” just like the real ship!), multiple firing projectiles, removable panels for in-ship play, a never-before-made/seen dockable mini-fighter, and bantha-buttloads more. You can recreate virtually every movie scene inside it too, as it’s so roomy. So, gather up your Star Wars figures and clear off your bed – it’s time to play with the big toys! May the force be with you.”

This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight — NOT! As I write this post I fear that I’m contributing to the obesity of Star Wars fanboys (and fangurls) across the world, yet the dark side of the force makes me want to get my hands on the Star Wars TV/DVD with Lightsaber Remote. Although sadly I’m wondering if this item is from the UK if it would work with NTSC?
