Mighty No. 9

It feels like the Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter was ages ago, but it was only September 2013 that it was funded. After much development time, Keiji Inafune’s spiritual successor to Mega Man is finally close to being finished. Mighty No. 9 will finally release on September 15, with publisher Deep Silver handling a physical release as well for $19.99. The platforms it’s releasing on are many, so here goes: PC, Mac, Linux, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U, with 3DS and Vita versions coming later. So unless you’re still rocking a Commodore 64, I bet you can get it on the platform of your choice.

Buy Azure Striker Gunvolt, Get Mighty Gunvolt For Free

Mighty Gunvolt

Keiji Inafune is well-known as the creator of Mega Man, but he no longer works at Capcom. So what is he making now? Two indie games, Mighty No. 9 and Azure Striker Gunvolt, which are basically Mega Man and Mega Man X, respectively. Inti Creates, the developers of Mega Man 9, 10, Mega Man Zero 1-4, and more are working on both games, so a crossover game isn’t that crazy of an idea. That’s what Mighty Gunvolt is, with another Inti Creates game called Gal Gun added in (but you don’t have to pay attention to that). And apparently, anyone who buys Azure Striker Gunvolt when it releases on 3DS within the first three months will get a download code for Mighty Gunvolt for free. What a sweet promotion! Read more…

Keiji Inafune Announces Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9

I have to really respect Keiji Inafune, he really seems to love what he does. And he really wants to make a new Mega Man, but since he’s no longer at Capcom that’s not possible. But what about a spiritual successor to Mega Man? That’s where his new Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9 comes in. It’s a side-scrolling action game where you play as Beck, the 9th robot in a series, who can pick up enemy weapons and abilities to enhance his arsenal. A lot of the staff working with Inafune are Mega Man veterans, with music done by Manami Matsumae and localization by 8-4! They’re asking for $900,000, which at time of this writing is already up to almost $600,000. I have no doubt Inafune will reach his budget and more. If you’re interested in backing it, click here, or check out the amazing pitch video below. Read more…
