Experience all the sexual tension you could possibly desire between Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt in this new Jurassic World clip!
What, did you want more a little more than that? Well, they do talk about dinosaurs a bit in this clip too — the raptors that Pratt’s character trains, the cages the park uses to keep them penned in, and about genetically modified dinosaurs that will almost certainly escape at one point in the film. Someone will probably get eaten! This is definitely an interesting clip to use as your “first look” at Jurassic World outside of a heavily edited trailer, as it lacks any CGI spectacle or dangerous thrills. I’m not sure what to think of Jurassic World, but I suppose I’m still going to see it just to find out how it turns out! Read more…

You’re probably not surprised to see more Lego video games announced. But, that said, I have to bring it up because a Lego Jurassic Park game is one of them. It’s titled LEGO Jurassic World, but will actually let you play through all four movies in the game. This means that for the first time ever (correct me if I’m wrong), you’ll be able to play as Lego Jeff Goldblum. This is wonderful news! I hope this game features as many characters as possible (Lego games usually do…) but the next most important question is: can I play as a dinosaur? We’ll have to wait and see. Lego Jurassic World is coming out in June. Oh, and there’s also a Lego Avengers game, based on Avengers and Age of Ultron. Whatever! Read more…

Since the last two Jurassic Park movies were so bad, I think it’s fair to approach Jurassic World with some caution. The trailer looks surprisingly interesting, depicting Jurassic Park as it was intended to be. The problem in this one comes from a new dinosaur made to attract more people to the park, because something always goes wrong when man plays God. As far as I can judge for the trailer, it looks like this movie will at least be better than its abysmal predecessor. But it’s a shame how reliant we are on CGI these days, because some of those dinosaurs can’t hope to match up to the animatronics used in the original Jurassic Park. Read more…

I don’t know if I should be doing this, but come on! It’s the first new Jurassic Park film in a while, and it kind of… looks good?! Jurassic World arrives next year on June 12th, but the trailer is premiering this week on Thanksgiving day. This is our first look at actual footage, featuring the most important element: dinosaurs! No feathers, yes. It looks like they’re not changing that. Perhaps we’ll see some feathered dinosaurs elsewhere in the movie? The park looks great, though, and Chris Pratt appears to be settling well into the lead role. He’s a bit like a goofier Harrison Ford, almost, isn’t he? Check out the teaser below. Read more…

Everyone knows Drew Struzan, right? His work on movie posters is pretty well-known, but just as influential (if not more so) was John Alvin. His poster design work for E.T., Blade Runner, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Gremlins, and more have shaped people’s first impressions of films for decades. A new hardcover book is coming out August 26th, featuring a wide collection of Alvin’s work and original sketches. To promote the book, the publisher has released a cavalcade of unused Jurassic Park posters and sketches, giving us an insight into the process of poster design. Check them out below! Read more…

Curious how the next big Jurassic Park film will turn out? Jurassic World has some really interesting ideas behind it and a solid cast. Plus, Colin Trevorrow seems to understand what made Jurassic Park special, so hopefully he can direct a solid picture too. So: here are some of the first pics from the set of Jurassic World straight from Universal to AV Club, featuring Chris Pratt, Dallas Bryce Howard, Nick Robinson, that kid from Iron Man 3 (Ty Simpkins), and no dinosaurs at all. I suppose that’s to be expected though. Perhaps some of the characters are looking at dinosaurs, as evidenced by their scared expressions! Read more…

A few weeks ago plot details were swirling around the internet for Jurassic World, the 4th film in the Jurassic Park series. Colin Treverrow, the director, decided to squash the rumors right away and talk about the story details — and, well, the rumors were true. Skip out now if you don’t want to know the general plot ideas behind Jurassic World! Okay, so Colin confirms that World is set in a fully functioning park on Isla Nubar, 22 years after the first film. The park is running wonderfully, but in their search for bigger thrills, the park management decides it’d be a good idea to created a modified dinosaur made from the DNA of other various species to create a new, more exciting park attraction — and of course it all goes wrong from there. SlashFilm has it all in a longer interview with Colin here, if you want even more juicy details. Good on him for owning the rumors! Read more…

I know a few people who found Jurassic Park too scary when they were kids. My girlfriend was one of them! I, on the other hand, loved seeing dinosaurs on the big screen. Perhaps this little edit from We Are Camera Studio, a little studio in Thailand, will help her enjoy it a bit more. Rather than having velociraptors scampering through the kitchen scene, wouldn’t kittens be a bit more fun? Or at least, less terrifying! I was going to make a joke about dinosaurs actually having feathers, but that didn’t really work. I’m pretty sure fur wasn’t a typical dinosaur outfit. Check out the adorable video below! Read more…

With the recent release of Star Trek Into Darkness and the constant buzz surrounding 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII, the franchises continue to be big in the public eye. But if these two franchises were stars, how bright would they be? The New Yorker has charted the two franchises, as well as several other prominent franchises throughout the past few decades, to see which franchise has raked in the most money. Unsurprisingly, James Bond wins that, due to there being 24 films in the franchise. But when ranked by what a franchise’s average film earned, Star Wars was the clear winner, as well as in franchise profitability. (Even the prequels couldn’t ruin that!) Since we can’t embed it, you can see the full chart here and find where your favorite franchise wound up. Read more…

We heard a few days ago that Jurassic Park 4 had been put on hold, but Universal’s reasoning was unclear. However, now we have a rumor coming out saying the Steven Spielberg himself asked the film to be halted after he stated that the script was “crap.” I feel bad for the scriptwriters, but then again – this is the guy who supported the mutant dinosaurs with guns in the original script. Not trying to rag on Steven here, but while I love his movies, sometimes his decisions are a bit bizarre. We’ll wait and see if the script gets re-written into an acceptable state, or if JP4 remains on ice for now. Read more…

Are you pumped about Jurassic Park‘s rerelease in theaters, but don’t want to pay money to rewatch it? Then gather round and check out this Minecraft recreation of the movie that made every kid fascinated by dinosaurs (well, even more fascinated than kids usually are). A few liberties are taken, but hey, I recognize a lot of those places! Read more…

I try not to post too many of these web series videos, because YouTube is flooded with them and you already see the deluge of regurgitated Let’s Play-ers and “Everything Wrong With The Hobbit in 60 Seconds” videos everywhere. But every once in a while there’s some clever content out there, and this recent Honest Trailers video is pretty great, not just because it’s about Jurassic Park 3D, but because it takes ample time to appreciate Jeff Goldblum in sexy poses. And why Sam Neill will always be “that Jurassic Park guy.” Watch it below. Read more…

Pokemon Snap is one of those underrated games. It may be a short game for kids, but there are very few other games out there like it, and none as enjoyable or memorable. The fact that Nintendo failed to make a sequel for Wii is a shame, one that I hope is rectified with the Wii U. In the meantime, fans are picking up the slack. Read more…

Universal and Steven Spielberg are continuing to press forward on creating a fourth Jurassic Park film! And while they have a script from Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, they hadn’t yet picked out a director. But now it looks like they’re going with a fresh face out of Sundance, in Colin Trevorrow, director of Safety Not Guaranteed. It’s an interesting choice to say the least, and one I’m not sure of, but Jurassic Park is Spielberg’s baby, so I bet that he saw something in Trevorrow’s work that he thought would be a good fit. Then again, you can argue about even having a Jurassic Park 4. How will it turn out? Read more…

Jurassic Park 4? Yeah, that’s happening. Why? Because DINOSAURS. Universal Pictures has set a release date for the fourth film in the series for June 13th, 2014. As always, studios throw dates out and then get the talent for the movie, so currently it’s lacking a director. A script has been finished though, by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Steven Spielberg is currently on as the producer. I’m sure we’ll hear rumors of Steven coming in to direct, but right now it’s all up in the air. Perhaps some fresh talent would reinvigorate the series? I’m curious to see how everything will pan out, but not very optimistic. Read more…
