Here’s something a little off the beaten path: a short documentary about the work and puppeteer effort put into making Jabba the Hutt! Yeah! Jamie Benning makes video and audio interviews about film, along with short documentaries. He recently interviewed Toby Philpott about his work as a puppeteer as Jabba the Hutt, but it quickly grew and turned into a 20-minute documentary about the entire process behind the puppet. It’s really fascinating to hear about how it was manned, created, and the hurdles they faced along the way. Often restrictions can induce really creative solutions! Watch the whole documentary below! I knew that Jabba the Hutt was many things — but I’ve never imagined him to be so well read! Although I’m surprised that slave Princess Leia wasn’t included! Read more…

The charm of a really good internet meme is that they’re so simple that they make you burst out laughing. Like a good bounty hunter I did my best to track down the owner of Jabba the Cat, but alas after going through tineye.com (no results), Google image search (links to several reposts) and then to various Tumblr blogs I still hit a dead end.

As a Star Wars fanboy I’m quite impressed with the level of detail in this Kubrick Star Wars DX Series 1 which is based on Return of the Jedi. Featured in the set are Luke Skywalker as a Jedi Knight, C-3PO & Salacious B. Crumb, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Amanaman the bounty hunter, Bib Fortuna and extra parts to build a Jabba the Hutt! These goodies will be shipping around the end of June however pre-orders are already being accepted. Read more…
