On the surface, this trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 isn’t too bad. There’s some decent action, and it seems that Agent 47 is being portrayed as a villain this time. That makes sense, because he, you know, kills people. But something about the whole thing feels off. Isn’t stealth a major part of the game series this is based off of? It seems that got lost along the way, so unless the action and story is particularly impressive, I doubt this will please either fans or non-fans, just like the first movie. Read more…

A little surprise in the last few days: Hitman GO hit iOS devices recently, and it caught my eye, mainly because it has such an unconventional and cool style. It looks like little models and figurines being moved around a wooden board, complete with tilt-shift effect. You still hunt down a target to eliminate, but instead you’re moving along various paths etched into the board and must plan your moves accordingly. The devil is in the details here, as all the little flourishes and movements reflect real figurines. I’ll have to check it out later, because it definitely looks like a unique game. Watch the trailer below and download it here! Read more…

Here’s something that might have slipped through most people’s radars. The movie was an adaptation of the videogame series of the same name that has the bald, barcoded Agent 47 killing targets. The first movie grossed $100 million worldwide, but didn’t do that well critically, so the Fox is hoping that this new movie, titled Agent 47, does better. Paul Walker was supposed to take over the role from Timothy Olyphant, but he died last November, delaying the film’s shoot schedule. Quinto has proved he can act, but I’m not sure if I can see him playing this character yet. This might be one of those movies that needs the trailer to sell the casting. Read more…

When companies talk about putting ads in games, there’s generally much gnawing of teeth as gamers envision a future where games are filled with pop-up ads. But what about getting to play high-def games in your browser for free with the support of interrupting ads? That’s Core Online, a new service from Square Enix, and it sounds pretty awesome.
