Community always does great references that actually are clever and unique. So today, they’re spoiling one by posting their G.I. Joe PSA parody from the upcoming G.I. Joe-themed episode. I’ve always enjoyed their animated bits — or any joke where they use something other than live-action — and this one is no exception. Pay attention to their code names, they’re pretty good. The only thing: are we going to see parodies of the internet classic Fensler Films version next? Now that would be amazing. Body massage! Read more…
Here’s a brand new clip from the upcoming G.I. Joe Retaliation film via Paramount International’s YouTube account. If you’ve been following this at all, you know that G.I. Joe has been through reshoots, a delay, and a 3D post-conversion. Not exactly the best situation, and it’s still hard to tell how the full film will turn out. However, this new clip shows plenty of overly-dramatic ninja battles and super-silly cliff fighting. Running up walls and riding ziplines all over the mountain scenery – I think this might end up being entertainingly cheesy. Or perhaps “good” bad. Maybe. Decide for yourself after watching the clip. And yes, this movie comes out next week, March 28th. Read more…
Remember G.I. Joe: Retaliation? It looked like a much better, or at least more entertaining, G.I. Joe movie, and it was supposed to come out this past summer – until it was inexplicably delayed until March 2013. Rumors swirled about new scenes with Channing Tatum being added, or editing the film for a 3D release too (which it now has), and who knows how true those are, aside from the obvious 3D. Still, this new trailer seems to indicate the film is back on track despite its rocky production and looks to still be solidly entertaining – and not horribly embarrassing. Watch the trailer below. Scribblenauts Unlimited is out, and if you’re unfamiliar with the series, it involves a boy solving simple puzzles by generating objects with his magic notepad. The dictionary includes a ton of nouns, so you can summon pretty much anything. What is new in Unlimited is the ability to create your own objects, and since the series typically avoids anything copyrighted (beyond some cameos like Mario in the Wii U and 3DS versions), gamers can now recreate their favorite characters and creatures in Scribblenauts‘ adorable style, as seen in the Ghostbusters screenshot above. In one of the dumbest, most ridiculous moves in recent memory, Paramount is delaying the actually-good-looking-or-at-least-silly-fun G.I. Joe Retaliation to March 29, 2013. It was supposed to come out next month, on June 29th. They’re hoping to add 3D to the film for an extra bang in the foreign box office, but I can’t help but wonder if this will ruin the film’s chances. Paramount has already dropped a huge amount of money into marketing, especially that Super Bowl commercial – and what about Hasbro’s toys and all the varied tie-in products? Are those just going to sit on warehouse shelves for 9 months? Read more…
The last G.I. Joe film was poor, in my opinion. It tried to run with the concept to seriously, which thankfully, the sequel doesn’t do. Instead, it embraces the silliness inherent in G.I. Joe and goes full-blast into the hectic action and crazy battles. I’m actually interested in Retaliation (although, as a silly action film, but there’s nothing wrong with that). Check out this latest trailer – it shows off the crazy stunts and ridiculous story – and who doesn’t want to see The Rock and Bruce Willis kick butt together?
Earlier today, Machinima gave us the first trailer for the upcoming film,G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and I hate to admit it, but it looks pretty good. Of course, after how terrible the first film was, that’s not much of an achievement. Not surprisingly, those silly, over-the-top, accelerator suits are missing in action, along with The Baroness, previously played by Sienna Miller. Instead, we’ve got Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Bruce Willis — not a bad trade by any means, but I think I might miss Sienna a bit, even if she didn’t really add much. If the trailer is any indication, expect to see more Byung-hun Lee, and Ray Park, as both ninjas are featured throughout. I find that promising, since they were easily the best thing Rise of Cobra had going for it. Read more…
Earlier today, Sideshow Collectibles debuted their upcoming G.I.Joe Cobra Commander premium format figure. This fantastic sculpt includes an interchangeable hood/helmet just in case you’re partial to his Marvel comics counterpart. In addition, the cape is also removable — though, I’m sure you’ll agree that any good villain needs a cape. The level of detail on these premium figures is absolutely exquisite, but that comes at a price — $300 with only 500 units being produced. In order to secure you preorder you’ll need to sign up for their newslettter and log in on March 10th to have your shot. It kind of makes you wonder who the real terrorists are. Could Sideshow Collectibles just be a front for Cobra? We’ll never know.
