Everyone wants to beat the E3 rush these days. You’ve got to announce everything early now! Or, well, maybe Ubisoft also just posted a $67 million net loss. So they announced Far Cry 4. Yes, very unceremoniously too, in a pdf for investors. Don’t worry, the PR blasts then fluttered it, listing it as releasing this November 18th. It’ll be coming to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC — no surprises there. I also see they’re getting the weird racist overtones out there right on the box art, rather than hiding them deeper in the game as in Far Cry 3. I’m sure it’ll still be a fun game, but I wish they had listened to the criticisms about the game and improved upon it. I imagine we’ll see more at E3. Check out the full box art below. Read more…

What do you do when you want to make a fan-film for Ubisoft’s upcoming Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon downloadable game? You contact them and get their official support. And then you make an awesome, neon, laser-filled tribute to the 80s and video games. Corridor Digital has put together a great short film that features Commader Lightning Bolt and his Android companion battling a CYBER VIRUS. There’s lots of guns, lasers, swords, and screaming. Check out the video below the jump, and keep an eye out for an of Corridor’s other great stuff. Read more…

Are you ready for new DLC for Far Cry 3? DLC that, in my opinion, looks cooler than the regular game? I’m astounded it’s even getting made. Yes, Ubisoft is creating a 8os-esque fake retro TV-show-designed-to-shill-action-figures DLC campaign. At first thought to be an elaborate April Fools joke, this thing is indeed real. And the trailer for it shows off plenty of neon lights, lasers, middle fingers, robot arms, and dinosaurs. Set in the near future of the year 2007, Sergeant Rex Colt: Mark IV Cyber Commando must defeat the evil army of cyborgs. I am so glad this is real. Watch the trailer below. Read more…

As much as I love achievements, they can often ruin the surprise of secrets and easter eggs. When being told to look for something, it’s much less fun when you find it than if you just happened to stumble upon it. I haven’t gotten to play Far Cry 3 yet, but there are some subtle secrets that may tie it into the conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Knights Templar in the Assassin’s Creed series.
