This is really bad news if you love old school claymation: Aardman the studio behind Wallace and Gromit is now talking about outsourcing their animation process. This BBC news article has this very depressing quote: “When a company like Aardman is considering offshoring stop-frame animation, which we are at the moment, something’s got to be wrong.”

I’ve seen tons of comedians tackle YouTube, but one trend I’ve started to see more and more of is for animators to take their work to the world: Candy The Magic Dinosaur is a good example of this — it’s done out of the UK by asittingduck and is quite engaging. I realize it’s hard for a non-professional animator to appreciate it, but what you’re looking at is the efforts of one personal (and a few friends) without any real budget. My gut tells me that we’ll see the next Disney, or at the very least the next generation of animators emerge from the web animation scene of today.
No this isn’t a film based upon the life of Charles Bronson the actor — this is a film based on the life of Michael Gordon Peterson an English criminal who changed his name to Charles “Charlie” Bronson who has earned a reputation as the “most violent prisoner in Britain”. The hype being pushed on this film is that it’s suppose to be a modern Clockwork Orange but actually it reminds me a bit of The Krays which was a very well done true life crime film from the early 90s. Bronson is due to hit theaters on October 9th. Read more…
