Kingpin Co-stars In Daredevil’s Full Trailer

The Kingpin

As much as I love the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I have to admit that they have a villain problem. Other than a few notable exceptions (like Loki), the film version of these villains lack depth, whether it’s the fault of the script, the editing, or something else. It’s encouraging to see the first full trailer for Daredevil focus a good portion of the trailer on Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Maybe having 13 episodes to play with will give Marvel the time it needs to fully develop the character, who seems to be trying his best to do good things for his neighborhood, albeit using questionable methods. It’s going to be hard to wait a whole month for this. Read more…

First Daredevil Trailer Is Bloody And Dark

Posted by Bob Muir on Feb 5, 2015 in Comic Books, Television

Daredevil

Many Marvel films go for a slightly more light-hearted tone, adding an endearing mix of humor and optimism to potentially dark events. Trailers may seem dark, but it’s usually just marketing for otherwise PG-13 adventure material, like Ant-Man‘s overly serious trailer for a film that’s actually described as a comedy. But on Netflix, they can play with more expectations, and the first of four upcoming series is Daredevil, which finally released a trailer for its April 10 premiere. With the Netflix series focusing more on vigilantes cleaning up New York (specifically Hell’s Kitchen in Daredevil), it’s not just visually darker, but tonally darker. I think we’re going to see a lot more blood in this series than any other Marvel movie to date. Take a look yourself! Read more…

Daredevil Series To Hit Netflix On April 10

Posted by Bob Muir on Jan 8, 2015 in Cinema, Television

Daredevil

I thought for sure that we wouldn’t see Marvel’s Daredevil series until May at the earliest, or more likely sometime this summer. But no, Marvel has announced that all thirteen hour-long episodes will be available on Netflix starting on April 10. That’s soon! Knowing Marvel, they’ll probably be starting to slowly drop more teasers for the show until we finally start seeing some trailers and promotion, maybe as soon as February. I’m curious to see how this may fit in with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will still be airing at that time, and Avengers: Age of Ultron, which releases less than a month later. But as usual, I’m most interested to see Marvel introduce a character I don’t know much about, having steered clear of the poorly-rated Ben Affleck film. Read more…

Here’s Your First Look At Daredevil’s Costume

Posted by Ben Huber on Oct 13, 2014 in Comic Books, Television

The Daredevil Netflix series will be coming out next year, and at NYCC 2014 we got our first look at his costume, above. It’s mostly cloth, rather than the rubber or featuring the padding most of Marvel’s other heroes have gotten, and it’s heavily inspired by his outfit in Man Without Fear. It’s fairly Zorro-esque! Man Without Fear is apparently also a big story influence on this series, according to the series creators. All in all, it looks like they’re steering the series in the right direction, so with any luck it’ll turn Check out a description of the teaser trailer that was shown here. Read more…

Marvel wants you to come and meet the cast of their new Daredevil series! The Netflix show won’t be starting until next year, but you’ll be able to meet the actors and actresses at New York Comic-Con this coming weekend, on October 11th. Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) will all be there. In addition, Marvel released the logo for the series, which looks pretty similar to the usual Daredevil logo, a few minor tweaks aside. I wonder if the emblem will show up anywhere, too? Read more…

Marvel Casts Charlie Cox As Daredevil

Posted by Bob Muir on May 29, 2014 in Comic Books, Television

Charlie Cox

Drew Goddard leaving Marvel’s Daredevil show (coming to Netflix) in order to concentrate on making The Sinister Six for Sony was a bummer when we learned it last weekend. But thankfully, Goddard’s replacement seems well-picked, and now we know who will be playing the titular role. Charlie Cox will play blind lawyer Matt Murdock who becomes the vigilante Daredevil. You may recognize Cox from his roles on Boardwalk Empire and Stardust, and now you’ll be watching 13 episodes of him on Netflix, in the first of several various superhero series that are planned. As someone who is eagerly devouring anything connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe lately, I’m pretty excited to see what Marvel can do with Netflix. Read more…

Uh Oh: Drew Goddard Leaves Daredevil

Posted by Ben Huber on May 25, 2014 in Cinema, Comic Books

Something is definitely going on at Marvel this weekend. Latino Review has broken a story, reporting that Drew Goddard (director of Cabin in the Woods and writer on Cloverfield and many TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has left the Daredevil series. Daredevil was part of Marvel’s deal with Netflix to debut several heroes on streaming TV series via the service, and Goddard was intended to write and direct the first episode. He’s also no longer the showrunner. Instead, THR is reporting that Steven S. DeKnight (another Buffy writer) will be taking over the project. Weird stuff is happening at Marvel… I just can’t help but wonder what. Perhaps it was just Goddard’s upcoming film, the Sinister Six, that got in the way? Read more…

Parody Preview: Daredevil vs. Depression 2.0

Posted by Michael Pinto on Mar 20, 2009 in Comic Books

Parody of Daredevil #117

Looking at this grim cover of Daredevil #117 (which hits the street next week) my thoughts that the economy is more of a threat to the world than any super villain! This cover is by Marko Djurdjevic who usually does some amazing work, but like the stock market this isn’t his highest point. By the way for you purists, here’s the unblemished cover: Read more…
