Sometimes mashups happen, and they just make sense. Take the Avengers. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe primed to go cosmic, the team are being prepped to fight more alien menaces. Now combine that with the Power Rangers motif, and all you’re missing is a Zord. Read more…

Dragon’s Dogma did better than Capcom expected it to, being released to favorable reviews and sales figures. Naturally, being a success these days usually translates to more content. There have been a few smaller packs of downloadable content, but now Capcom is rereleasing the game as Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. Read more…

Well this is a pleasant surprise, kind of just like the first film. MTV premiered a trailer for Kick-Ass 2, the sequel to 2010’s adaptation of Mark Miller’s comic. And it’s looking pretty nice! Everyone seems spirited, and Jim Carrey’s inclusion doesn’t seem too forced. My only concern is that it is directed by some no-name instead of the talented Matthew Vaughn, who is only producing this time around. Still, it may turn out good. Check out the trailer below, but be warned it’s a red band trailer full of naughty words that are potentially NSFW. Read more…

I know that Sleeping Dogs, Square Enix’s open-world romp through the grimy streets of Hong Kong, only came out about half a year ago, but it seems like it has been longer. That’s why I’m always surprised when more downloadable content is released for the game. A new DLC offering, “Year of the Snake,” comes out today, and it has protagonist Wei Shen continuing his cop duties in a less undercover manner. Read more…

Yes, May 19 is right around the corner, and that means that it’s almost time for season five of The Venture Bros. And since it’s almost upon us, Adult Swim has released a nearly five-minute-long trailer previewing what we can expect. As is to be expected from the mix of 60s cartoons, supervillains, comics, super science, and tons of other geeky elements that make up the show, the trailer makes no sense whatsoever, serving only to entice fans further. After Nintendo was silent on Western releases for three major RPGs for its ailing Wii system, fans got together and complained loud enough (Operation Rainfall) for them all to get released. Sure, Nintendo claimed it was already planning on publishing Xenoblade Chronicles, and XSEED had to pick up the publishing slack for The Last Story, but at least they were released. This April, XSEED is publishing the third of the missing RPGs and probably the last worthwhile Wii game, Pandora’s Tower.

It has been a dry post-launch period for Wii U owners, with not a whole lot coming out. In hindsight, it’s almost good that Pikmin 3 got delayed until early this year, since at least there will be a must-buy game coming out for those desperate for new games. But before then, Nintendo has a small side-project to share: short Pikmin cartoons.

The Gauntlet Gallery in San Francisco is hosting a Mega Man art show this month, honoring the Blue Bomber that Capcom has been mostly ignoring lately, despite 2012 being the 25th anniversary of the original game. While there are many pieces on display, one in particular will draw the attention of Mega Man X fans: a “holographic” Dr. Light capsule. Read more…

After ending the trilogy in God of War 3, anything else seems a little…unnecessary. I’m thinking specifically of the upcoming God of War: Ascension, yet another prequel, but this time with multiplayer. Still, in the absence of necessity, just toss whatever in and hope it creates necessity. Case in point: adding King Leonidas from 300 to multiplayer. Read more…

Despite Mark Hamill being a downer about rumors that he, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher would return as Luke, Han, and Leia in Disney’s Star Wars Episode VII, the rumors continued to circulate. They may have been in talks, but I guess at least one of them has wrapped up, as Carrie Fisher has quite definitively confirmed that she will return as Leia.

The latest Iron Man 3 trailer is out, and as predicted by last week’s poster, Tony Stark and Rhodey will have plenty of help. This movie is going to be bursting with new suits, and it looks like they’ll be providing back-up for Tony instead of being worn. It’s not clear if anyone else is wearing them, but I could see the movie explaining them as controlled by A.I. Read more…

It’s been a long, tumultuous road for Mass Effect 3 and its downloadable content. While I don’t care to play it, the multiplayer has surprisingly flourished, aided by free updates. Meanwhile, additional singleplayer content has been rolled out in the style of Mass Effect 2. But while they may be similar, the wind has been taken out of their sails due to the fact that they don’t have any effect on the controversial ending. Regardless of what you think of the DLC so far, the end has come: Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be the final storyline DLC until Mass Effect 4 (currently in development).

Wolf Children (or The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki in Japan) is the latest film by director Mamoru Hosada. Hosada has been rising in prominence in the past decade, having initially directed Digimon: The Movie and the sixth One Piece movie before releasing The Girl Who Leapt Through Time in 2006 to positive reviews. Summer Wars followed in 2009, also receiving strong praise. Now, FUNimation is preparing to release 2012’s Wolf Children in the US. Read more…

It’s not May 19 yet, so that means we’re all still waiting on the fifth season of The Venture Brothers, one of the few good shows still on Adult Swim. In the meantime, fans who have waited forever (or since 2010) for a new season will have to make due with fan-made content. That’s not a problem when there’s awesome stuff like this reanimation of one of season two’s best scenes using the Source Filmmaker. Read more…

Time for another casting confirmation for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Marc Webb’s sequel to his reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. But first, let’s recap the cast as it stands. We have: Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Dane DeHann as Harry Osborn, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as the Rhino (yeah, I know, it’s weird), and Felicity Jones as someone (possibly Black Cat). And now, toss another potential villain into the mix… Read more…

While some may question some of their business practices now that they’re under the shadow of Activision, one thing is for sure: Blizzard still knows how to make some damn-fine cutscenes. StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is out in only two weeks, on March 12, and Blizzard has a fancy cinematic trailer to get everyone pumped about the continuing story. Sure, there’s no gameplay, but look how cool it is!

One Piece: Pirate Warriors may have just been a Dynasty Warriors game, but it was still pretty fun despite the dumb gameplay. A large part of that were the energetic and wacky attacks. Lo and behold, there is a trailer for One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 focusing on the entire Straw Hat crew and the new moves they’ve attained during the two-year time jump that occurs in the manga’s plot. Consider me somewhat unduly excited, but I can’t help it: Square Enix has finally announced a Western release for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. It’s an HD collection consisting of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix (the slightly improved original game, previously only released in Japan), Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories (the PS2 remake of the GBA interquel), and redone, expanded cutscenes that tell the story of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (a DS spin-off set around the same time as Re:Chain of Memories). Naturally, trophies have been added as well. Read more…

Hoo boy, where to begin? As promised, today Sony announced the future of PlayStation, the PlayStation 4. With an x86-64 8-core AMD CPU, a 1.84 TFLOPS AMD GPU, and 8GB of RAM, the PS4 has enough horsepower to run engines such as the Unreal Engine 4. The system uses a new controller, the DualShock 4; it’s close to the DualShock 3, but with a touchpad in the middle, a light to help identify each player’s controller, the ability to be tracked by the new PlayStation 4 Eye (included), and a Share button for some cool new features. Do you remember Ghost Trick? It was a Capcom DS game from the creator of the Ace Attorney series. You played a dead detective who had to solve mysteries to discover information about his murder. There was also a cute dog. Well, NeoGAF solved an alternate reality game from Square Enix and discovered a teaser trailer for their next game. It seems to be about a dead detective who has to solve mysteries to discover information about his murder. There’s no word on whether a cute dog is involved. Read more…
