Inglourious Basterds: Quentin Tarantino Goes to War
Brad Pitt’s accent doesn’t quite cut it for me in this trailer (compare him to the performance of R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket) but I’m sure Quentin Tarantino will have enough guts-n-gore to make up for that! And of course even if QT isn’t making a great film he never commits the sin of making a dull film, you know that when you enter the movie theater you’re going on a long roller coaster ride.
A few years ago there was a special on director Sam Fuller which featured Tarantino going on about how much he admired Fuller’s war films like Fixed Bayonets! I could tell at that point that Taratino wanted to do a film set in World War II, also it was wise of him to wait after the last set of more serious films came out following Saving Private Ryan.
By the way the title of the film is Tarantino’s nod to the 1977 Italian film Inglorious Bastards which also deals with a set of misfit American soldiers:
