Blade Runner Sequel Rumors Run Wild, Are Ridiculous
I’ll take any opportunity to write about Blade Runner, and the last week has been filled with speculation and rumors. It all began with Twitch posting an article claiming they learned that Harrison Ford was in talks to join the sequel. Two days later, the head honchos at Alcon (the company financing the sequel) said this wasn’t true at all. Now, AICN posted an Entertainment Weekly article in which Ridley Scott himself speaks out on the film. What did he have to say?
“We’re still in discussions about whether it should be a prequel or a sequel […] I’m meeting with writers and I’ve also gone back to [original Blade Runner screenwriter] Hampton Fancher and he still speaks the speak. He’s right there. I spoke with him this week. But we don’t even have a script yet.” Basically, everything is up in the air, we’re still laying the foundation – don’t get your hopes up. Also, AICN referenced a popular fan theory that Prometheus will lead into the Blade Runner sequel and somehow join the Alien and BR universes… which is frankly, the funniest thing I’ve heard all day.
