Gary Oldman Yells About His Call of Duty Voice Acting
Here’s just a quick little video to make you smile: Gary Oldman recently went on Conan (in a rather dapper bowtie, I might add) and was asked about his work in the Call of Duty series. He mentions one of the most time- and voice-intensive parts of video game voice acting, which is recording for all possible player choice. And yelling. A lot.
I guess it has to do with the fact that games often think we’re stupid. “Go right here!” And maybe we are, or at least some of us. Part of it, I believe, can be attributed to poor game design. If your level and environment is designed well, you can lead even the most dense players through it easily. But when all else fails, should the game simply yell at the player?
