It’s Not Anchorman 2, but It’ll Do
Although we’ve seen him in numerous internet shorts and TV guest spots, it’s been awhile since Will Farrel’s last feature film. Our hopes were pinned on a sequel for 2004’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, but Paramount nixed the film back in May. Ironically, Farrell and company are using Anchorman to market their upcoming film, Casa de mi Padre. In it, Farrell plays a Mexican rancher who must battle a drug lord to save his family’s farm while attempting to win the hand of a young lady — sort of like Happy Gilmore, except in Spanish.
It appears Farrell’s character may only speak Spanish throughout the entire film, which I’m sure will probably be good for a laugh or two. I do love that they’re using a mostly-Latin cast with stars like Genesis Rodriguez, and Gael Garcia Bernal. Saturday Night Live‘s Andrew Steele will serve as screenwriter with Matt Piedmont set to direct. The film is set to hit theaters this March.
