My Little Pony: Fighting is F@#!ing Awesome
Ever heard of game developer Mane 6? No? Yeah, that’s not surprising: it’s a batch of bronies (and presumably a few female fans as well) who are working on a 2D indie fighter game featuring the characters from Hasbro’s surprisingly popular television cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
According to Mane 6’s site, the game will be a fully-featured fighting game, complete with story mode and online and local versus modes. At launch it will include the main six characters from the series (protagonist unicorn Twilight Sparkle, fashion designer unicorn Rarity, sporty pegasus Rainbow Dash, animal-loving pegasus Fluttershy, hard-working pony Applejack and of course, psycho partier Pinkie Pie).
11 DLC characters are also planned for after the launch. The bronies in charge haven’t revealed who these characters are, but it’s easy to guess some of them, namely characters who appear multiple times in the series, such as dragon Spike, zebra Zecora, the “Cutie Mark Crusaders” (three young ponies), and fan-favorite (but officially unofficial) character Derpy Hooves. (I personally hope that griffon Gilda and other non-pony critters appear— how about Fluttershy’s domineering rabbit Angel?)
Okay, enough speculating— check out sample footage from the game’s very early development, featuring Applejack fighting a recolored version of herself. Then follow ManeSixDev on YouTube to stay up-to-date when they release more footage!
