Nintendo Reveals More Pokemon X & Y Info, Including New 3DS XL
Nintendo released another Nintendo Direct, holding a rather self-congratulatory roundtable to discuss more information on Pokemon X & Y. First of all, it was revealed that you would get your starter pokemon from your friend, not a professor. The professor will actually offer you a choice soon after of one of the starter pokemon from Pokemon Red & Blue, meaning you’re basically getting two starters. Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle’s evolved forms also have new Mega Evolutions, a temporary battle state triggered by a Mega Stone and a trainer’s Mega Ring. Charizard’s looking pretty good!
Also announced was Pokemon Bank, a 3DS app that would allow you to transfer up to 1000 pokemon from Pokemon X & Y and store them online. It will also be used to help transfer your pokemon from Pokemon Black & White 1 & 2. Through the use of another app, Poke Transporter, you can move the pokemon from those older games into Pokemon Bank, then move them into your new game. Because Pokemon Bank uses servers, the service will cost you an unspecified amount, but going by Japan’s rate, it’s pretty minimal: ¥500 (about $5) a year.
Finally, near the end of the video, you can see the two new 3DS XL models that will go on sale September 27. They come in red or blue and are decorated with X & Y, as well as the legendary pokemon from their box art.
