Save Big on Star Trek TNG in HD
For the longest time, I’ve been wanting to see Star Trek: The Next Generation receive its much-needed facelift, and after picking up a copy of Star Trek: The Next Generation -The Next Level Blu-ray sampler earlier this year, I’ve become conflicted. Not because I don’t want them to finish remastering the series, but because I honestly loathed the first two seasons — at least, in comparison to the series as a whole, which I found brilliant. The writing was often sub-par, the acting absolutely atrocious at times, and the visuals (props, sets, costumes) — yikes, do we really need to see those in high definition?
Setting aside the completionist in me, it was something I really had to consider, but ultimately, I think the answer is yes. It’s worthwhile, at least. In the end, the first season (perhaps even the first two) stand as a testament to its fans, the people who kept watching long enough to secure The Next Generation‘s place in the annals of history. Those who convinced a network it was worth taking a chance on. If you’re one of those fans, then perhaps you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of TNG in HD. If you’re looking to preorder the first season, Amazon has currently discounted the price from $129 down to $78.86, which, according to TrekMovie, is matching a recent offer from Wal-mart, who oddly priced the blu-ray set at just $89.99 list. That’s almost 40% off, so be sure to take advantage of the offer. Star Trek: The Next Generation in HD season one, will be available in stores on July 24th.
