Nintendo Relents: Fan-Favorite Xenoblade Chronicles Coming to US
Perhaps all the clamoring and petitioning from fans earlier this year was worth it: after Nintendo stated earlier this year that they had no plans to release the fan-favorite and critically-acclaimed Wii RPG Xenoblade Chronicles in the US, gamers rallied to support it. Sadly, Nintendo declined to indulge their enthusiasm and remained silent. Until now, that is. The game now has a general release date of April 2012, but will not be getting a wide release. Instead, the only places you’ll be able to purchase the game will be either Gamestop or Nintendo themselves, via their website. Still, that’s better than no release at all.
Xenoblade Chronicles is described by Nintendo as an “epic clash between man and machine.” The game was originally launched in Japan in June, 2010. That’s almost a 2 year time span until US release, so you can understand why people may have given up hope, especially after the game was localized for Europe, which at the time seemed like a terrible tease to fans in the US. One can only hope now that the fans will pull through and the game will sell well, encouraging Nintendo to continue to bring the slightly more obscure titles to a western audience.
