Portal

Have you spent the last few years wondering what the big deal was about Portal, but didn’t want to spend your hard-earned cash?  Perhaps you just own a Mac, and haven’t been able to join in on the fun. Well, for a limited time, none of that shouldn’t be an issue. In order to celebrate the recent release of Portal for the Mac, Valve has made both the PC and Mac versions of the game available as a free download via Steam. What’s the catch? Well, there is none really. You’ll need a free Steam account, and the offer only runs through May 24th, but that’s about it.

For those of you who haven’t really heard about the game — I’m not really sure how, it’s pretty popular after all — it’s a bit of an experiment in physics. Portal presents you with a number of challenges that require the use of portals to move about in order to progress from point a to point b. The game also features a bit of humor, with a slightly demented AI that guides you along the way. The game garnered numerous awards after it was launched, including several “Game of the Year” accolades. If that’s not enough to convince you to give it a try, I don’t even know what to say. So, what are you waiting for? Go and download your free copy today.
