The Jackson 5ive: Before He Was the Gloved One
Believe it or now I recall watching this show as a child, although it may have been in re-runs! The Jackson 5ive ran for two seasons from 1971 until 1973 and was produced by Rankin/Bass in collaboration with Mowtown. The show was very similar to the Beatles cartoons that ran a few years before: The average plot was that the group is on tour, one member falls intro trouble and crazy antics resume which are interrupted by musical numbers:
One interesting bit of trivia is that the show featured Michael Jackson’s pets which was based on the fact that even then he owned so many pets in real life. On the show his pets are Ray and Charles (named after the famous singer Ray Charles) and the ever so cute snake Rosie. Another bit of trivia is that while the Jacksons didn’t do their own voices in one episode they actually did have Diana Ross play herself:
